INTRODUCTION

The ÁMEI Petroleum Products Quality Inspection Company Limited by Shares (ÁMEI Ltd.) is a nationally and internationally well-known and acknowledged organization in the area of testing petroleum products. It analyses and certifies petroleum products and professionally accommodating the most-updated equipment and instruments of its technical field it produces well-grounded results. Concentrating on the requirements of its professional area it operates evenly, efficiently and consistently.

In the spirit of continuous development ÁMEI has been operating in newly-built and equipped premises of high standard since 2006.

 

HISTORY

Among the predecessors of ÁMEI the Hungarian Royal Museum of Technology, founded in 1883, and the Hungarian Royal Institute of Technology and Testing, founded in 1924, are considered. The former one was interested in analysing of lubricating oils.
After 1945 new separate institutes were set up for analysing, monitoring and quality certification tasks occurring in the Hungarian industry and trade. ÁMEI was founded in 1952 with the objective of executing the certification of samples taken during manufacturing and trading petroleum products. In 1980 ÁMEI belonged to Research and Development Institute for the Hydrocarbon Industry. On the ground of the Hungarian Privatisation Body’s resolution in 1994 ÁMEI became an incorporated company (ÁMEI Ltd.) with one shareholder, MOL Plc., the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company.
In order to ensure the independence and neutrality the ownership of ÁMEI Ltd. changed in 1996. The shareholders are the Petroleum and Petroleum Product Stockpiling Association (KKKSZ), its current name is Hungarian Hydrocarbon Stockpiling Association (MSZKSZ), and the Hungarian Petroleum Association (MÁSZ).
